GRATITUDE REVISITED
As Calizo celebrates another milestone anniversary, I fondly remember my dear friend and restaurant owner, Nino Prenetti of Abbracci in Coral Gables, Fl. Another wonderful person who encouraged me to share my home recipes is, Veronica Paderni, manager of her brother’s restaurant, Sapor Di Mare. An Italian seacoast type restaurant in Coconut Grove, FL. Both individuals were there for me as I brainstormed Calizo and its initial products.
Italianaise was field tested under the supervision of Veronica in the restaurant, who was also my former neighbor, claiming she lived in the “Gaaarage”… Made me laugh every time we got together. When entering Nino’s restaurant, everyone felt like a celebrity as he warmly greeted guests, visited at their tables. Same goes for Veronica …. Their restaurants serve as a home-like destination for community and were greeted as family. Their extended love inspired me to tweak products, explore, and take the risk. I feel like Calizo customers are like guests in my food company-- extended family.
